Foundation Degrees in South West Wales
Fancy building your career prospects in one of South West Wales’ future boom industries?
Limited places are available on foundation degrees in five subject areas that have been identified as expansion industries over the next few years. If you’re looking to change job, return to work or boost your career, foundation degrees are a great way into higher education and are designed with a particular area of work in mind. You can even get a £300 bursary towards the £690 tuition fees to help towards the cost of these part time degrees, which are delivered in one of the FE colleges in South West Wales.

- A foundation degree is a vocational qualification in higher education, combining academic study with work-based learning
- Foundation degrees offer a route into higher education for people of all ages and abilities
- Designed jointly by universities, FE colleges and employers, the degrees are available in a range of work-related subjects
- You can work and study at the same time
- Once you get your foundation degree, you can ‘top-up’ to a full honours degree with additional study
- The five degrees are validated by three universities but delivered by industry experts in a FE environment
- Course fees for the five degrees are £690 with a £300 bursary available providing you stay enrolled on the course
The course has been designed to respect the seasonal nature of the tourism industry and offers flexible study. Topics covered include introduction to business functions, the business environment, tourism practice and philosophy, tourism in the global village and sustainability.

Textile Product Technologies
The course aims to upskill individuals already in employment who wish to increase their knowledge in the area of textiles. It will be delivered through flexible hours and e-learning as well as traditional seminars and practical sessions in order to fit in with employer needs. Information Technology Management for Business
The course aims to produce an informed and competent IT graduate by intellectual stimulation, practical application and the development of analytical skills covering both the theory and practice of IT. Modules include computer systems and network architecture, systems analysis and design, introduction to programming and web application development.

Construction and Heritage in the Built Environment
The course consists of classroom based learning, workshop practice, self-learning, educational visits and guest speakers from the building heritage field. The key elements of the course include repairs and maintenance of pre-1919 buildings as well as retro-fit and sustainable development. Students will benefit from work experience relevant to the traditional/heritage sector.

Care and Support
The course explores a range of issues that are central to the provision of high quality care and support. These include advocacy and empowerment, safeguarding, contemporary issues in social housing, equality and inclusion, effective communication, leadership and management of transitions, mental health and the promotion of person centred care and planning for the complex needs of vulnerable individuals.
